Our Vision

The Lake Worth Conservancy is a partnership-driven community organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and honoring Lake Worth. Our mission is to enhance the lake’s health, accessibility, and allure through protection of water resources, preservation of green space, transformative beautification, and recreational initiatives. We aim to ensure that Lake Worth remains a cherished community treasure for generations to come.

Honoring Past Efforts: A Celebration of Neighborhood Vision

For decades, the neighborhoods surrounding Lake Worth have served as the steadfast guardians of this cherished environment. Through their associations and grassroots efforts, these communities have done more than merely preserve a lakeshore—they have defended an idea, a heritage, and a future built around the natural beauty at Fort Worth’s doorstep. It is because of their unwavering commitment that we stand here today, preparing to take the next big step in shaping Lake Worth’s destiny. We owe these neighborhood heroes our deepest gratitude.

Our History

The Silver Creek Alliance and “Ditch the Dump”

The origins of the Lake Worth Conservancy can be traced back to the Silver Creek Alliance, a grassroots group that emerged in response to a proposed landfill project near Silver Creek. The group’s mission was to stop the opening of a landfill located at 3411 Silver Creek Road, which could severely impact the nearby Silver Creek tributary and Lake Worth, a primary source of drinking water for residents of Fort Worth.

The Silver Creek Alliance, with the slogan “Ditch the Dump,” actively engaged the community, requested public meetings, and communicated with local and state officials to raise awareness and oppose the landfill project. We argued that the proposed facility could increase air pollution, traffic congestion, and further deteriorate the already congested Silver Creek Road.
